VR Surgical Simulation Modules

VR Surgical Training modules

I have developed many surgical trainings in VR while at Osso VR. Since most projects were confidential, the following are genericiesed examples.

The CHALLENGE

Each project had the same challenge of translating steps and techniques with a device into a realistic instructional simulation. Most of my clients were first time VR adopters or clients using VR for medical device sales to bridge a gap.

The Solution

The solution would always be a VR module.

For confidentiality purposes, the original module has been anonymized and reproduced using a standardized device in place of the original equipment.

process

  • Needs Analysis & Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Client discovery meetings would take place and internal discovery meetings to discuss feasibility and the project needs. This is where the teams would align on what is possible in the clients timeline.

  • Content Development: Techniques guides, surgical vidoes, animations and meetings would take place to learn about the given project and a design would then be created to outline the steps and interactions in the module. These would tie into the learning objectives for the training that were discussed early on.

  • Interactive Learning Elements: Cross team collaboration between art, engineering adn developers would take place to create assets and technical needs for the specific project.
